When in Paris...

Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting Déco Off in Paris, and if I had to sum up the event in one word: amazing. It was such a treat to explore the fabric labels and their showrooms in person. While I’ve already discovered many beautiful brands over the years, experiencing them firsthand added an entirely new dimension to the journey.

As a true Dutchie, I hopped on a bike and cycled through Paris, making stops at Maison Pierre Frey, Élitis, Dedar Milano, Arte, CMO Paris, Nobilis, Zimmer + Rohde—just to name a few. Each textile house left me deeply inspired, not just by their stunning new collections but also by the rich histories behind them.

Many of these maisons are family-run, carrying their passion for interior decoration across generations. The love for craftsmanship, quality, and storytelling was tangible in every sample I touched. I felt like a kid in a candy store, marveling at the intricate details and unique stories woven into each fabric design.

Two fabrics have completely stolen my heart. The first is Maralinga by Pierre Frey—a stunning jacquard inspired by the Aboriginal dot painting technique. Its design, available in three earthy tones, immediately drew me in with its rich, grounding beauty.

The second is Kaldi by Nobilis, a true masterpiece in its own right. With its exquisite pattern, it would make the most breathtaking drapery. Hearing the agents share the stories and inspiration behind the fabric houses' latest collections has been so inspiring.

A dream for the eyes was the sensory voyage by Maison Pierre Frey. Visitors were invited to discover a world where the new Deserts collection came to life, featuring fabrics, wallpapers, rugs, carpets and many new Pierre Frey furniture creations. I loved the entire entourage.

Not only did I visit Déco Off: Paris is a treasure trove of inspiration, especially for fabrics and all things interior. A must-visit when I am in Paris is Ogata (3rd arrodissement), one of my absolute favorite spots in the city. This magical, serene space never disappoints. On this visit, I was lucky enough to get a behind-the-scenes tour, exploring the bar and the enchanting area where their fragrances are expertly curated.

Next stop (also in the 3rd): Maison Sato—a haven for stunning Japanese ceramics, from timeless vintage pieces to sleek contemporary designs. I couldn’t resist and brought home two pieces that fit perfectly on our new dining table.

I also made time to visit interior brands Giorgetti and Cassina, where I was captivated by their latest designs and creative craftsmanship.

Whenever I’m in Paris, the city immerses me in its unique charm and authenticity, awakening all my senses. Even after days packed with countless kilometers and endless impressions, I leave feeling completely recharged and inspired.

I’m already counting down the days until my next visit in just a few months—for PAD Paris. Stay tuned.

With love,
